Keep it to yourself:holiday card challenge

Not that I have anything to do for Christmas Eve, I can't imagine I can still make a card on Christmas Eve, and it's for 365 cards challenge: "Keep it to yourself". The rule is "do not put the message on the outside of the card".

Here is my card for my hubby:

I've been telling him that I'm not gonna make him a Christmas card, because every time I finished a Christmas card (that I made for someone else), I put it on his working table, that pretends it's me giving him the card. :) Anyway, I got the teddy bear from some gift tag. I found it cute and didn't want it going to the waste basket.

Merry Christmas!

365 cards challenge - Super Sketchy Sunday

Another 365 card challenge for me... This is the Super Sketchy Sunday. For some reason, I couldn't add the image by providing the image URL. Anyway, here is the sketch.

Hope you like my card. I like this color combination. :) And I just love the Martha Stewart border punch. I was struggling whether I should get the scallop border or the lace one. But I guess I'll be happy either way.

The images were created by heat embossing. I have a problem that I could not completely remove the embossing stick on the paper. What's the proper way to do it? To brush it off? I only tap on the paper and make the excess goes away. If you have any tips, please let me know!!

365 Cards Challenge - Ad Inspired

Here I come again for the 365 cards challenge. For the past 2 weeks, there are a few challenges that I really wanted to enter. Unfortunately, I was on business trip.

I hope it met the requirement for this Ad Inspired challenge. The Ad shown in the challenge is a very christmas red and green to me. However, due to my limited stocks, I don't have a darker green to put for the card. Here is my card:

The Santa and "Merry Christmas" stickers are actually coming from a card set some time ago. And I'm excited to tell you all about my new toy -- embossing powder and heat gun.

I need to find a better place with better lighting to take this picture. But I am kind of in a hurry... u know, away for 2 weeks just before Christmas... doing laundry, attending parties, etc. And I don't even know I'm late for the challenge.

Thanks for visiting.

K.I.S.S Challenge

Today, when I was thinking about making a christmas card, I thought "why not find a challenge to enter at the same time?". Then I found a challenge in Pals Paper Arts. This week's challenge is K.I.S.S. (a.k.a. Keep It Simple, Sweetie).

Here is my interpretation:

I couldn't find a good place to take a good photo of the card at night in the house. I might re-take it tomorrow morning.

I found that I haven't used my embossing kit for a while (btw, that is my very first scrapbooking / card-making tool). It turned out pretty well, it gave a nice texture for the card.

The position of the ribbon is a little weird. I found that *after* I glued the Christmas tree. But anyway..

First time challenger!

I've been following the 365 cards blog for quite some time, and this is my first time joining the challenge "Tied up in knots"!

This is a baby shower card for a colleague who is gonna have a baby girl in Dec.

The baby stroller is created using paper quilling. I saw this pattern somewhere (which I apologize I cannot recall) to use the heart shape for the top part.

Thanks for stopping by.

Some of my favorite craft blogs

I'm a frequent reader of the "365 cards challenge" blog. It's amazed how the participants can create great cards while satisfying the constraints indicated by the challenge. And some of the participants even enter the challenge everyday! Given that I make one card per month on average, that's mission impossible for me.

In particular, I found 3 blogs that I like to read:
I'm sure there are a lot more great blogs out there showcasing the work on handmade cards that I haven't discovered. Please feel free to leave comments to my blog.
Enjoy!

Relaunch of the blog

While I'm working on a web site to show my handmade cards and other paper crafts, I'm relaunching my blog to focus on my crafts work. Since I work slow on craft-related stuff, I will be posting some of my recent or favorite handmade cards for the next few postings.

Thanks for reading my blog!
