Bookmark

Got a very cute stamp set recently, and making a bookmark out of it.

The monkey looks a bit weird in yellow color, but it doesn't look too bad with this background paper. :-) Hope you like it.

Happy Birthday

It's my son's 1-month's birthday 2 weeks ago and I made a "Happy Birthday" decoration on his cake. It's a bit primitive, but with 15 mins to build from scratch, I'm already happy with what I've got... also given the amount of sleep I was getting. :)

Friday Five

I'm entering 2 challenges for this card today. At first, I do not really like the card stock that this card is based on, but after adding more embellishments on it, it actually does goes with other things pretty well.

For the 365 cards Friday Five challenge, the requirement is to use only 5 items on the card except the card stock. The 5 items on the cards include:
1. the white circle background with flowers & butterfly stamping
2. the pinkish flower shape under #1
3. ribbon
4. green paper
5. "Birthday wishes"

For the clean and simple challenge, this is the sketch.

Martha Stewart stamp set again

I'm still playing with the new Martha Stewart stamp set (yes... like it very much). And today's 365 cards challenge is to use a technique that I do not use often. I'm not sure if it counts... I think I've never used stamping to be the only thing in my card, but it turns out pretty good IMHO.

Hope you like it.

Card Pattern Challenge

The color blue seems to be my favorite color these days. I created another birthday card, again, no specific recipient at this point. I'm inspired by the Card patterns challenge.

Gold, Leaf and Ribbon

I'm making a card based on the 365 cards challenge: Gold, Leaf and Ribbon.
To be honest, I like the layout of the elements in the card, but not very happy the output. I tried to use colored paper for the ornaments, it didn't turn out well either. oh well...

Gold: strings hanging the ornaments, and the not-so-visible golden leaf at the bottom
Leaf: the leaf next to the "season's greetings" word at the bottom (yes.. another reason I don't like this card so much. :P )
Ribbon: at the top of the card

Merry Christmas in Oct

From reading different blogs, it looks like people start making Christmas cards. I think it's time for me to make some too. :-)

I'm inspired by the Clean & Simple Challenge:

I wish to use my better camera to take pictures.. but kinda lazy these days. :)

Martha Stewart stamp set

So happy to get the Martha Stewart stamp set recently. In fact, everything from Martha Stewart seems prettier. :) sorry about the bias. :)

Anyway, making use of the new stamp set, I made a birthday card and entered the Crazy 4 Challenges .The challenge is to create a birthday card. I don't have anyone to give in mind, but anyway, this is my card:

With the MS stamp set, I put the gold glitter on the sides with the red background card stock.

Thanks for visiting.

2 challenges in a card

I'm entering 2 challenges:
1) 365 cards challenge - Making the Most of it

i.e. to use 3 patterned paper from the same line. which is not too hard for me to do, because of my limited amount of card stock. :)

2) clean and simple challenge

Here is my card:

Thanks for visiting.

Thank you card set?

I find that I'm always behind on my photo-taking part, especially after we got a new camera. So, finally (after 3 days), I took the picture of the card that I'm going to enter the clean & simple challenge.

This is the sketch:

And here's my take on it:

Hope you like it, cuz I start to like to paper pattern. :)

With the card I made for the other challenge, it's the first time for me to create a card set type of cards. :)

2 sketches 4 you challenge

I think orange might be my next most favorite color after making this card. It's inspired by the 2 sketches 4 you challenge.

Baby shower favors

I know sometimes things aren't working exactly the way you want. However, when making the baby shower favors, there are more things that didn't work the way I want than I expected. Let me share this adventure here:

The wraps that I got to wrap the cookies aren't big enough. With the limited time, I couldn't find wraps or boxes that I like. So I eventually made my own bag.
When I thought everything will go smoothly, with the bag I made, I wanted to use the ribbon to tie it. However, I do not have a punch with smaller hole (other than my big 3-hole punch), and my craft punches aren't powerful enough to poke through the bag. I had to end up just putting the ribbon in the front.

Anyway, it turns out to be pretty nice (at least from my point of view :-) )

365 cards challenge

I start to realize that I like the sketch challenge more. From a very tight Sunday evening, I made this card out of the sketch challenge from 365 cards

This is my card:

I had a hard time to get the glitter sticks. Luckily, it turned out to be not too bad, there's some randomness to it. But if you have any tips on getting the glitter sticks more permanently, please let me know!!

Thank you!

We received lots of gifts lately, and to show our gratitude, I've been busy making thank you cards. This is one of them:

CPS Challenge

I'm amazed by how many card challenges out there waiting for people who love to make cards. Through browsing to different bloggers' work, I found this CPS Challenge. And I made another Thank You card with the "paper wheels".

Clean and Simple Challenge

I started to like the clean and simple challenge, and for this week, here is the challenge:

And here is my card:

Hearts paper quilling

I usually post the completed version of the cards that I made. Recently, I found out it's fun to just build the components that can be used to make cards instead of the whole card. While I'm still in paper quilling mode, I made some hearts:

Ad Inspired card

I was creating some flowers inspired by Claire Choi . Her work is always amazing. I cannot imagine how she could make such beautiful things out of paper. If you haven't visited her blog before, I'd strongly encourage you to go there. It will change what you think about paper crafts!

Anyway, going back to cards. Using the paper quilling flowers, I entered the 365 cards ad inspired challenge.

Here is my card:

To be honest, it's not completely done because I would like to add some "words" on the card. But since I cannot think of whether it should be a birthday card or card for other occasion, I'll just leave it like this for now.

Christmas in August!

Yes.. it's only August. Since I will be busy around Christmas card preparation time, so I started a bit early (given that I work slowly). So, here you go with the card patterns sketch 75 challenge

More paper wheels

After creating the first not-too-successful "paper wheel", I'm addicted to create more because I just think that it looks so nice as an embellishment. Then I see a Clean&Simple challenge:

Here is my card. With the new camera, I think it does look nice. :) For the green background, I put on some Martha Stewart gold glitter (it was on sale, and I couldn't resist :-)

A closer look of a more successful paper wheel.

Hope you like it. Thanks for visiting.

Sketch Challenge

The 365 cards was having sketch challenges all week, unfortunately, I didn't have much chance to enter them all (though I'd really love to!). Anyhow, I did make it for the Friday sketch

Below is my take. The "Thanks so much" tag is supposed to stand out a lot more. I folded a rectangular strip into zig-zag pattern, and make it a wheel. Somehow it got lost in the photos.

A closer look of the "wheel":

I'm back.. sort of

I just realized it's been a while that I haven't made a card, and also a while that I haven't made a card without entering a challenge. I'm kind of in a rush... so here you go:

I always love the products from ecojot, so I got the inspiration from that web site and made this card.

Very purple

Check out this great web site (http://kevinandamanda.com/fonts/fontsforpeas/) to download fonts. I found this one: Pea Kadee's Greetings, and created a card from it. I also entered the 365 cards challenge - Shades of Purple.

The rule is to use 3 shades of purple. Where are the 3 shades? 1) the ribbon; 2) background paper (which i printed some patterns using copper ink); 3) dark purple paper under the "Happy Birthday".

Feeling blue...

For some reason, I was feeling a little blue today, not sure if it's because I haven't been slept very well these days. Anyway, I made a card (which happens to be in blue!), inspired by Clean & Simple challenge FTL96. Here is the sketch:

And my card:

I was planning to go for the real simple white background for the butterfly, but it did look a bit plain, so I stamped some curvy lines there.

2 challenges in one card

I find it making a card during weeknights is already a challenge!! I started to think about entering the CardPatterns challenge few days ago, but when I was just about to have some ideas, it's almost bed time. Anyway, this sketch challenge is pretty fun to work:

Together with the 365 cards Strips and bold challenge, here is my card:

Card Pattern Challenge

Another challenge that I entered for today! After I had some satisfactory result in cleaning up my desk, I gotta make some cards to reward myself. :)

I entered the Card Pattern Challenge Sketch 67.

Here is my take:

One new thing that I've tried is to use a patterned paper as the focus of the card. I think it turns out pretty good. And I add some glitter glue on the flowers, though it didn't show well in the pictures. Here is another angle.
