Less is More challenge - Sunset

I find I`m not very good at the color challenge.  But I`ll give it a try anyway..

I`m playing along with the Less Is More color challenge.  The topic is sunset.  I first think of this golden card stock which was used as the base behind the lion stamp.  Adding to it is the orange glitter birthday hat.  The glitter is coming from a Halloween themed glitter package, but I think it serves pretty well here.

Less is More 2 legs challenge & Freshly Made Sketches challenge

Father's day is coming, I guess a lot of the fellow card makers are making father's day card.  This one is for my hubby.

I'm participating the "Less is More" 2 or 4 legs challenge, and the Freshly Made sketches challenge this week. For the 2 / 4 legs challenge, I was thinking about some kind of animals to put on my card initially.  But then inspired by the guest designer's card, I wanna make my own monster card too.  It might look a bit better if my handwriting is more artistic.  I guess it's time to get some calligraphy books to learn!

EDIT: I've also linked my card to AAA cards challenge.  Thanks for Sarah's suggestion!

Less Is More Challenge - Use some Metal

This is one of the very few one-layer cards that I've made, cuz I usually find it difficult to make one.  But I think I'm quite happy with this card that I use it to participate in the Less is More challenge.  The "thank you" text is using the silver metallic embossing powder.  The card stock that I use is a bit creamy in color, I guess it might have better effect if I use a more white one.  Anyway, hope you like it.

Frame it!

Got lots of inspiration in putting a frame in a card over at "Less is More" challenge blog.  Here is my take on it:

The card base used in this card is actually some textured paper which didn't show very well in the picture.  I think this will be good for a kid's birthday card.  Hope you like it.

Glamour and Glitz

This week's theme for "Less is More" challenge is Glamour and Glitz.  I'm so excited about this challenge, because I think I started to know how to use glitter. :)

There are some "shiny hearts" around the snowman.  At the bottom half of the card, I stamped a few snowflakes and used embossing power & fine white glitter on top of them.

Using up scrap paper

As I mentioned in my previous post, I now have to try hard to use up the scrap paper after making mini-albums for my son's birthday party.  I think it's a challenge by itself.  Anyway, I'm playing along in "Less is More" sketch challenge.  For some reason, the sentiment is a bit out of focus, so it looked a bit blurry.  I was using clear embossing powder over the sentiment to give it some dimension.  Hope you like it.

Preparing for Father's Day

It's been a while since my last post. Life has been busy and also I've almost done with the cards that I have to give out for the first half of the year, so I got lazy. :P But I can imagine I'll have more posts starting in Aug.. to prepare Christmas cards. :) geez.. I can't believe I'm talking about Christmas already!!

Anyways, I'm participating 2 challenges:
1) Less is more - color challenge (3 shades of green)
I wanted to find a green card stock to be the background, but couldn't find one that quite match, so I'm using a pale yellow card stock instead. The strip patterned paper has a few shades of green. And I've brushed some green ink on the edge for the "happy father's day" flag.

2) Another challenge is Clean and Simple sketch challenge.

Butterflies punch

My sis is not into craft but she got this Martha Stewart butterflies punch some time ago, and lent it to me. It's just adorable!! Back to the challenge, this week's "less is more" challenges is punches and diecuts. After punching the strip of butterflies, I stamp some pink ink on top. I just love it. I hope I didn't make the card too bad to spoil it.

Another cupcake

I recently got this hero arts cupcake stamps, and just love it. It's the first set of cling stamps I have, and I think it's easier to work with than the clear stamps I usually have.

I'm playing along with the "less is more" challenge for a purple card.

Another take on Less Is More challenge

Now that I have my copper inkpad ready, here is my another take on "Less Is More" challenge. Again, it's probably the choice of the layout, I find the card would be too dark if I didn't add some color, so the "birthday wishes" sentiment is in pink.

Perhaps someone can help me out here. I always find the outcome of the stamped image is not even. I'm stamping it on an even surface, of course. But somehow it doesn't come out the way I want. Any advice?

Thanks for visiting.

color of your eyes

This week's "Less Is More" challenge is "Color of your eyes", i.e. the predominant of the card needs to somewhat match your eye color.

The predominant color of this card is copper from Martha Stewart inkpad. Of course it's not my eye color (mine is brown) i guess it's close enough. When I first made this card, I didn't have the pink butterflies, but then I'm thinking who would want to receive a birthday card from me that's "brown and white"? That's why I'm adding a bit pink there.

Hope you like it. Thanks for visiting.

Very baby girl like card

I'm playing along with 2 challenges:
1. Paper play challenge - make your own flower

At first, I wasn't really intended to put the flowers on the top right part of the circle, but because I didn't cut the circle perfectly, so it's a good way to hide it. :P I've made those paper roses before. If you're interested to know how to make it, follow this link.

2. "Less is More" challenge - metallic theme

I'm using the silver embossing powder for the monkey image. I was planning to make a birthday card for kids but it turns out it looks very pink-ish, looks more like a baby girl card. Maybe I'll reserve this for that purpose.

Thanks for visiting.

Heat embossing

Heat embossing has been a tricky technique for me. I usually have lots of "debris" left on the card which I don't know how to make a clean embossing. After reading the tips from the "Less is More" card challenge web site, I gave it a try, and it actually works!! Which tip I used? I used cotton ball rubbing over the area I will apply embossing. How can I not play along the challenge after getting this useful tips?!

Here is my card. I think it looks a bit too simple even adding a few gems on the tree. Anyhow, it looks quite good if you just look at the "tree" itself. :-)

Hope you like it.

Quilled baby carriage

A quilled baby carriage for a baby girl. At first, I was planning to use quilled circles for the wheels. While looking for places to put some gems, I find it looks quite nice to use them as wheels.

I'm playing along in the Less Is More Challenge.
