masculine card

I don't know about you but I always have a hard time to make a masculine card. So I like to see card challenges like 365 cards to have a challenge "Create a masculine card with a touch of pink" so that I can see what others do for a masculine card. And this is my take on the challenge. Hope you like it. :)

Christmas card

It's quite a busy Christmas, besides it's always not a real vacation with you have a baby at home. :-) Anyway, I have another Christmas card to share which I'm participating in the Paper Play challenge - christmas challenge:

I got this beautiful snowflake punch from a friend for christmas present. It's so nice. :)

Cupcake birthday

With the 2 weeks vacation, I got some time to do crafting (finally!). I got this new hero arts stamp on Boxing Day. :-) Also, I'm playing along with the clean and simple challenge . This card size is 5.5" x 5.5", which is not a usual size I normally work with, but I kinda like it.

Merry Christmas

Haven't made any cards after I'm back to work from mat leave. It's good that Christmas coming and it gives me some excuse to squeeze some time for cardmaking. :)

I'm playing along with 365 Cards challenge - so soothing challenge. Don't know about you, I do feel brown and green is quite soothing. Since it's a christmas card, I'm participating in the PaperPlay challenge - christmas time challenge.

I like this design so much that I created a similar card but with red/brown color combination.

Hope you like it.

Another take on Less Is More challenge

Now that I have my copper inkpad ready, here is my another take on "Less Is More" challenge. Again, it's probably the choice of the layout, I find the card would be too dark if I didn't add some color, so the "birthday wishes" sentiment is in pink.

Perhaps someone can help me out here. I always find the outcome of the stamped image is not even. I'm stamping it on an even surface, of course. But somehow it doesn't come out the way I want. Any advice?

Thanks for visiting.

color of your eyes

This week's "Less Is More" challenge is "Color of your eyes", i.e. the predominant of the card needs to somewhat match your eye color.

The predominant color of this card is copper from Martha Stewart inkpad. Of course it's not my eye color (mine is brown) i guess it's close enough. When I first made this card, I didn't have the pink butterflies, but then I'm thinking who would want to receive a birthday card from me that's "brown and white"? That's why I'm adding a bit pink there.

Hope you like it. Thanks for visiting.

Summer vacation?

I find a bit contradicting when I see the 365 cards challenge title - "summer vacation". I'm technically on maternity leave, so everyday is like a summer vacation for me? Anyway, when I think of summer, I'd think of hiking and going out to the nature. So I made this card with birds and flowers. With a baby, I'm yet thinking how to hike with a stroller. Some might suggest a carrier, but carrying 20lb to hike may not be a fun thing. oh well, hope you like this card.

Thanks for visiting.

Sunday sketch

I'm playing along with the 365 cards sunday sketch challenge. I saw someone using different colors of the flower stamp to create a bunch of flowers which look very nice, so I was trying it. Unfortunately, it wasn't as nice as hers. It probably doesn't show very well in the picture, I embossed the bottom part of the card to give it some texture. Now, it looks like a wall.... with green wallpaper, with white panel at the bottom and a wall art. :P

a very merry christmas

Having kept checking the mailbox for a few days, my blog candy from Amy from Tsuruta Designs finally arrived!! Love the stamps and Amy even sent me a card. I took a few pictures but they are on another camera, let me upload it later!

Anyhow, one of the stamps I got is this "a very merry christmas" stamp. It looks great. And I made this card for the 365 challenge - So Unusual challenge. The glittered reindeers are from the Martha Stewart glitter set that I used my friend's when we gathered as "crop day".

Very baby girl like card

I'm playing along with 2 challenges:
1. Paper play challenge - make your own flower

At first, I wasn't really intended to put the flowers on the top right part of the circle, but because I didn't cut the circle perfectly, so it's a good way to hide it. :P I've made those paper roses before. If you're interested to know how to make it, follow this link.

2. "Less is More" challenge - metallic theme

I'm using the silver embossing powder for the monkey image. I was planning to make a birthday card for kids but it turns out it looks very pink-ish, looks more like a baby girl card. Maybe I'll reserve this for that purpose.

2 challenges in one card

I got this circle cutter recently, so I gotta use it in some of my card challenges. :) So here it is:

The santa image is something I cut out from some gift tag which I can't remember where I got it. It turns out this card has some vintage look.

The challenges I'm participating are:
Card patterns - sketch 129
Less Is More - Things that Move

Christmas in August

I'm playing along in the Paper Play Challenges - Christmas In August. That's a perfect challenge because I've been creating a few christmas cards. :)

Here is the close up. I've embossed the "christmas tree" but I think it doesn't show very clearly in the picture.

Rework of the last card

I wasn't very happy about the last card, so made some modification. I like this one much better! It no longer conforms to the clean and simple challenge, but oh well... at least this one is nicer. :)

yet another christmas card

I don't think it's too early to make christmas card cuz I have a couple to make. So, I'm playing along with the clean and simple challenge and 365 challenge.

For the clean & simple challenge, here is the sketch to follow:

I find my card is a little bit weird actually, especially in the picture. Maybe i should add some gold glitter around the tag to make it more prominent.

For 365 challenge, it's to make a minimum of 3 layers on the card. The flower background is #1, the ribbon makes background #2, the tag #3 and the cut-out flower on the top right hand corner is #4.

Clean and Simple

Saw the sketch from the clean and simple challenge, just love it. So I have to participate!

Here is my take on it. Somehow the photo is a bit dark even I've adjusted it. Anyhow, hope you like it.

Christmas hasn't come yet

I realized I haven't posted (and in fact made) any cards recently. The major reason is I like to make the cards ahead of time and I think I've made the cards that I need to give this year already, except for Christmas. So there's very little motivation for me to start to pile up for next year. :)

Another reason is my newly acquired hobby.... cake decorations! I'm on Wilton Flowers and Cake Design course right now, and it's been fun. Anyway, back to cards... I'm playing along with the "Less is More" challenge -- Something with legs. I found this lovely image that I printed very long time ago from american greetings. so I cut out this image and decorate the card a little bit. I put some gold glitters around the image and I stamped a snowman stamp around the edges of the card.

Here is the close up:

2nd post of the day!

Not sure if it's a sign that it takes less time for me to make one card, it's very unusual that I have 2 posts for the day. Anyway, I'm participating in the CPS sketch challenge.

I embossed the polka dots one by one randomly, it does look a bit irregular. I think I like some regularity more. :)

Clean & Simple

I'm playing along the Clean and simple challenge. When I got the card stock for the card, I love it. I love the color scheme and the pattern. Then I figure it's not easy to make a card out of it. So it's been sitting there for a while in my craft cabinet. But I'm happy how this card turns out. After finishing the card, I find it might look better with some glitter glue on the circles at the background.

Baby card

I'm playing along the 365 card challenge for the Saturday sketch.

I find babies come in batches. When my son was born about 6 months ago, I know 2 friends who were having babies around that time. And in a few months, I know a few friends who will be having babies too. So, I'm making a card. I guess you know it's for a baby boy from the color of the card. I wanted to put a sentiment on it, but I cannot find a good place to put. Therefore, I give it up. :-) Hope you like it.

Heat embossing

Heat embossing has been a tricky technique for me. I usually have lots of "debris" left on the card which I don't know how to make a clean embossing. After reading the tips from the "Less is More" card challenge web site, I gave it a try, and it actually works!! Which tip I used? I used cotton ball rubbing over the area I will apply embossing. How can I not play along the challenge after getting this useful tips?!

Here is my card. I think it looks a bit too simple even adding a few gems on the tree. Anyhow, it looks quite good if you just look at the "tree" itself. :-)

Hope you like it.

Quilled baby carriage

A quilled baby carriage for a baby girl. At first, I was planning to use quilled circles for the wheels. While looking for places to put some gems, I find it looks quite nice to use them as wheels.

I'm playing along in the Less Is More Challenge.

Do you "like" it?

Make sure you like the Diana Crafts Design Facebook page! Let me see how can I put this to the sidebar of the blog.

Clean & Simple

I don't know if you have the same problem... I find it difficult to create a masculine card. I mean most of my stamps are flowers and butterflies related, so as the embellishments I bought and I made. Anyhow, I'm playing along with the Clean & Simple challenge on the sketch. It's a bit simple but hey, the theme is "clean & simple", sometimes less is more. I'm quite happy how it turns out. Since it's a birthday card, I'm participating the Birthday Sundae challenge as well.

You are loved...

I'm making the wedding anniversary card using the pink roses I made earlier.
http://blog.naver.com/paper6262/60062286543

It's still a bit early, cuz our anniversary is 2 months away, but hey, it's better done earlier than later, right?

I'm participating 2 card challenges:
1) 365 cards blog inspired - the blog logo has lots of flowers so I'm using the roses as embellishments
2) card patterns sketch 111

Birthday lion

In order to make good use of the cute stamp set, I decided to make a birthday card out of it. The card is inspired by Clean and Simple challenge #135. I also participate in the Birthday Sundae challenge.

Butterflies

Once in a while, I feel like cleaning up my craft cabinet, and usually I "discovered" something that I haven't used for a while. For example, this butterfly stamp:

Using a Martha Stewart ink pad:

Using some washable pen:

Love...

Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind; And therefore is winged Cupid painted blind
~ William Shakespeare

I'm making a wedding anniversary card for my parents. I'm also playing with a few card challenges:
1) Card pattern challenge - Sketch 109
2) Polycraft Monday Challenge - Old/Neglected stamp
The stamp I used in the card is one of the stamps I bought at the beginning of my card making hobby. For some reason, it's been hidden for a while.
3) Allsorts challenge - blooming blossoms

Here is the close up:

Clean & Simple

There are quite a number of cards to make for April and May. You probably will see more postings in the next few weeks. Here is a birthday card I made (my mom's birthday is coming soon) inspired by the Clean and Simple challenge. And with this, I'm entering the All Sorts Challenge "For a Special Lady" challenge.

I used the quilling apples I made earlier.

Make a wish

I've made a birthday card inspired by the Mojo Monday challenge.

The background of the card is embossed by stars, but it doesn't really show in the picture. I've tried different angles and still couldn't get it to show. Anyways, here is the card:
